Kearney High School students Logan Daugherty and Ezra Stuart recently returned from an unforgettable week of learning, leadership and exploration in Washington, D.C.

Logan and Ezra were among 110 students selected from rural Missouri schools to participate in the 2026 Missouri Youth Tour, held June 14-20. Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative sponsored their participation in the all-expense-paid experience, which was coordinated by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives.

Throughout the seven-day tour, students learned firsthand about government, leadership, community service and some of the pressing issues facing our nation. Their itinerary included meetings with congressional representatives and visits to Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian Institution museums, the International Spy Museum and many of Washington’s historic monuments. They also joined Youth Tour delegations from five other states for a sightseeing and dance cruise on the Potomac River.

We are proud of Logan and Ezra for representing Kearney during this meaningful leadership experience. We are also grateful to Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative for providing this extraordinary opportunity for our students!
