Three Incumbents File for KSD Board of Education Election

Only three individuals filed as candidates for the Kearney School District Board of Education seats scheduled for the April 7, 2026, election. All three are the current incumbents: Jake Klingensmith, Bree Switzer and Nic Vasquez.
Because the number of candidates matches the number of open seats, and with no other KSD questions slated to go on the ballot, Missouri law dictates that the district will forgo holding an election. As a result, there will be no Board of Education election in April 2026, and Klingensmith, Switzer and Vasquez will continue their service on the Board.
The school board candidate filing period opened on Dec. 9 and closed on Dec. 30, 2025. Visit our website to learn more about the Board candidate filing process and related state requirements.
