Board of Education Meeting Highlights — December 2025

The Board of Education wrapped up its final regular meeting of the year on Dec. 17. The evening opened with a wonderful performance from the Hawthorne Elementary choir, whose holiday songs brought a lot of smiles to the room.

Board members reviewed several important updates, including progress on 2022 bond projects, this year’s Library Media and Parents as Teachers program evaluations, and the results of our 2025 Annual Survey. The Board also approved routine monthly items, next year’s 2026–27 academic calendar, and several contracts related to instruction, student services, and facility improvements.

Online Safety Reminder for KSD Families

In this week’s ParentSquare feed, we’ve shared an important reminder about online safety after a recent incident involving a KSD student on a gaming platform. It highlights resources in our KSD Online Safety Hub, tools available to families through Linewize and the Qustodio Parents App, and practical guidance for talking with children about staying safe online. Please take a moment to read the full post and explore these supports. They’re designed to help all of us work together to keep our students safe!

Fall 2025 Tour of Champions Builds the Bulldog Legacy

We had an incredible morning celebrating some truly outstanding Bulldogs during our Fall 2025 Tour of Champions! This tradition started a few years ago as a way to honor Kearney High School varsity teams and activities that bring home state titles. We also invite each season's individual state champions to participate. It’s become one of the most joyful events we host each year.

This time, we were thrilled to recognize:
  • The 2025 Class 4 State Champion KHS Football Team
  • 2025 All-State Band member Phoebe Taylor
  • 2025 All-State Choir selectees Delayne Boyd, Emi Eberhardt and Kaycie Springer

Kearney Elementary First Graders Spread Joy with Christmas Choir Tour

The first-grade choir at Kearney Elementary raised holiday spirits across the community with a Christmas concert tour on Tuesday, Dec. 16! The young performers took their talents to Oak Pointe of Kearney, the Kearney Early Education Center and the Westbrook Care Center. Our students did an outstanding job of bringing joy with their seasonal songs. Merry Christmas, Bulldogs!

Dream Team Gets the Win at Special Olympics Basketball Jam

The Kearney High School Field House was rocking on Monday night, Dec. 15, as our community packed the stands for the 2025 Kearney School District Special Olympics Basketball Jam. The annual event, organized by KHS Boys Basketball Head Coach Dillon Starzl, featured a high-energy matchup between the varsity boys' basketball team and our Special Olympics Dream Team. Admission was a goodwill donation, with all proceeds supporting the KSD Special Olympics program.

And last but not least...
