2025-2026 ACT Academy

Kearney High School is proud to offer the ACT Academy to our students. Any student who has already taken the ACT and is signed up for an upcoming ACT test can participate in the ACT Academy.

The ACT Academy meets once a week for three weeks leading up to the respective ACT test. ACT Academy-trained teachers lead these sessions, which focus on tips and strategies for taking the ACT.

Our ACT Academy students have an average ACT composite score increase of two points. Some students who have previously taken the academy have had greater successes with their post-academy scores. This includes students who qualified for Bright Flight scholarships and/or increased their composite score by three or more points.

The cost of the Academy is $40, which covers the cost of books. Students who attend one ACT Academy can attend additional Academies at no cost.

To sign your student up for the next ACT Academy, you can pick up a form in our main office or click the link below to register and pay online.

What is the ACT?

The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, math, reading, science (optional), and writing (optional). While the science and writing portions of the ACT are optional, some colleges or universities may require students to complete these respective tests. Check with the institution you plan on attending to determine if completion of these tests are required.
