The Kearney High School Girls Wrestling team took the top prize in their last regular season tournament at the George Hoover Invitational on Friday, Jan. 27 at Liberty High School.
A total team effort propelled the Bulldogs to a team championship by more than 30 points over second-place Fort Osage High School. Tournament highlights included Hailey Romero securing her 100th career win and Bailey Martin defeating Liberty’s Jaden Breeden, who she had never previously beaten.
“The girls are firing at the right time as we head into the district tournament in two weeks,” Head Coach Nick Ward said. “I’m proud of their hard work and growth as a team this season.”

The KHS girls have one remaining conference wrestling dual that will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2 against Ruskin High School at home. The Bulldogs will host the Girls Class 1 District 4 Tournament on Feb. 9-10.
