Beth Freeman, Career Readiness Coordinator

Beth Freeman has been named the Career Readiness Coordinator for the Kearney School District. This is a new position recently added to the district. Freeman has taught English and been the National Junior Honor Society sponsor at Kearney Junior High School (KJHS) for the past eight years. Her teaching background as well as her experience as a business owner make her an excellent resource for this new role.

The new Career Readiness Coordinator will support and execute real world learning initiatives such as career exploration events, mentoring, and student internships, as well as higher education student activities. As the district works toward establishing more authentic learning opportunities for students, it has become increasingly more important to have a dedicated staff member to assist with these endeavors.

“Beth brings high energy, a positive outlook and an intuitive understanding of what is needed to build a bridge between the business sector and education,” said Jennifer Kopp, Director of Academic Services. “She is going to be an incredible liaison for the district as we move forward with increasing authentic learning experiences and giving our students amazing opportunities both inside and outside of the traditional school environment.”

Freeman began her career in education in the Blue Springs School District in 2004. She taught secondary English and was a sponsor for student senate. In 2011, Freeman accepted her teaching position with the Kearney School District. Freeman is also actively involved in family owned and operated businesses in a variety of different facets ranging from real estate to an online boutique.

“I am thrilled to begin my role as the Career Readiness Coordinator,” Freeman stated. “I am most excited to expose students to real world learning experiences, as I know that those will be invaluable as they reach the end of their high school careers and go out into the workforce.”

Freeman attended Missouri Western State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Webster University. She also earned National Board Certification in 2018. Freeman was named Teacher of the Year at Blue Springs Freshman Center and honored at the Northland Chamber’s Excellence in Education ceremony as a nominee for Teacher of the Year for Kearney School District.

She and her husband Brian have 3 children: Bennett, Quinn and Everett.

Freeman will start her new role in July, and her office will be located at Kearney High School.
