This past weekend, the KHS Boys’ Swimming Team attended the state meet in St. Peters, Missouri. It was a great weekend for the Bulldogs, who placed 4th overall. The team brought home 4 first all-state swimmers, the highest relay finish in program history, the highest team finish in program history, and the first state champion in program history.
The Bulldog Swimmers set 9 of 10 school records last weekend. Way to go, Bulldogs!
RESULTS:
200 Medley Relay – Austin Wolfe, Spencer Steward, Evan Holt, and Grant Sloan combined to finish 3rd overall breaking their own school record by more than a 1.5 seconds and earning First Team All-State Honors.
200 Freestyle Relay – Austin Wolfe brought home a 2nd place finish only to fall to his teammate Evan Holt who is the MSHSAA 200 Freestyle STATE CHAMPION!!!! Both boys earned First Team All-State Honors.
200 IM – Spencer Steward was our lone athlete in this event and brought home a 9th place finish in one of the most stacked events of the meet. He broke his own school record by more than two seconds and earns All-State Honorable Mention honors.
50 Freestyle – Grant Sloan competed in this event having an amazing swim and breaking his own school record by .6 seconds and finishing 3rd overall. He earned First Team All-State Honors.
100 Freestyle – We had two athletes compete in this event. Grant Sloan had amazing swim, digging deep in the final yards to move up a spot to score more team points finishing 12th. Austin Wolfe followed up his 200 performance with another runner-up finish in this event shattering his school record by almost half a second! Wolfe earns First Team All-State and Sloan is Honorable Mention.
500 Freestyle – Evan Holt followed up his 200 state championship with a 3rd place finish in one of the fastest 500 freestyle races in state history. Evan had to hold off two other swimmers to finish 3rd and he dug deep to do so! Evan earns First Team All-State Honors.
100 Breaststroke – Spencer Steward brought home an impressive 7th place finish in the Breaststroke, absolutely destroying his school record! Spencer earns First Team All-State.
400 Freestyle Relay – Holt, Sloan, Steward, and Wolfe combined for a 2nd place finish in one of the most exciting events of the day! They boys came together to secure the fourth place finish and the highest relay finish in program history.
